26th May 2009 - Nidhana's visit
Nidhana flew back to London tonight. For the first time in 3 weeks, I am alone. We lived and worked together every day since her arrival in Cape Town three weeks ago, spending a week in Cape Town, a week at my home on the Durban South Coast and finally a week in my flat in Johannesburg. We grew so close that parting was hard. She cooked me porridge in the mornings and I will miss that when I wake up tomorrow. Funny how little things like that become so important in the shadow of saying goodbye.
We shared much - on a personal level as well as professionally. We saw in each other the opportunity to be mirrored by the other, not always easy yet we knew we would both grow...and we did. The students that saw her were touched in one way or another, touched by her expansive love, by her gentle tantric touch and her powerful energy healing capabilities. Some were taken on very deep paths, sometimes painful, yet they too will grow from opening up to these places within themselves.
Together we mastered the 4-handed tantric massage and gave it our own specific slant. The core of our work was always unconditional Love. It may sound strange to someone who has not experienced this work, but it is exactly that. Without this love of the other, the depth of our work would not be possible. What does that mean - love? It means total acceptance of the other, absolute non-judgementalism, and loving the core of who the other is. Not the potential - the core. This implies that it is there, all already within the individual and sometimes just needs a gentle nudge to expand. It is this that made our work so enjoyable. Being able to give of ourselves in this way.
For me it was a new experience to share so intimately and deeply with another professional practitioner. On parting we both knew we would need time to get used to being on our own again and we also knew we would see each other again. We spoke about me working with her in London and also about her coming back to South Africa for longer and in the summer months.
A huge thank you to all the students, new and old, who saw us during the last weeks. Thank you for your trust in this new venture, thank you for being who you are and for braving the world by coming to experience Tantra first hand. It is exactly the way to learn about Tantra, it is the only way to experience Tantra - to do so first hand with someone who also experienced Tantra first hand with a teacher or teachers.
I don't have too much time to relax because Lisa is arriving from Berlin on the 4th June. I look forward to this next encounter with another professional - this time from the country of my own tantric roots. I know that some of you will be eager to meet and work with her or if you did not experience the 4-handed massage with myself and Nidhana, you may want to go for it now during Lisa's visit. I look forward to seeing you and to introducing you to Lisa. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to be able to share these visiting professionals with you all. It gives me great pleasure to do so.
As this short entry into my journal is coming to a close, I have a deep wish to thank someone very special who assisted in getting things right in my house in Cape Town. He spent time preparing things and did loads of cleaning up and washing after we left. He then came to my home on the KZN south coast to spend a last weekend with the two of us at a time when we were both acting out and behaving quite untantrically! Thank goodness you did not let us disturb your peace! Your presence and your patience - you know who you are - was so important to both of us. Thank you for being there and for being who you are!
There are others to thank, many friends and students who wished me well, who were in the background, nervous after my experiences last year wondering "will it work out this time?" and hoping that I would not be disappointed again. You all meant so much to me - the sms's, phone calls and emails asking how things were going - thank you for being there. I felt your support and it felt good, really good.
Well, it did work out. And how it worked out!
My love to you all.
